Now before people get hopeful, this isn't going to have a lot of heavy numbers theorycrafting in it. I'm allergic to numbers, and clinically mathematically retarded. Due to this, my thoughts are from the point of view of 'This is what I see', and I welcome (in fact, practically beg) people who can either correct the views or add in real and heavy numbers.

With 3.3 coming up fast, and the net buffs we are going to be getting for tanking, I figured I'd put down the usual measure of what I ...

but then I started thinking that technically the hunter wouldn't be getting 2% threat without the pet threat too, and I figured it was worth looking into.

I should be able to test this by looking to see if the pets basic attacks do more threat than damage, with and without the enchant.

Anyone know?

Improved Aspect of the Hawk - Rank 1/5

While Aspect of the Hawk or Dragonhawk is active, all normal ranged attacks have a 10% chance of increasing ranged attack speed by 3% for 12 sec.

Increases the health of your pet by 10% and your total health by 5%.

I can not find a clear answer to this, so maybe you guys know. I might be one of the few hunters who actually wants to know so maybe you can give me mobs to test hit ratings out on maybe?

I assumed:

80 - 5%

81 - 5.5%

82 - 6%

83 - 8%

This might be a throw back from level 70 hit stats. Someone posted a wiki saying:

80 - 5%

81 - 5.2%

82 - 5.4%

83 - 8%

Which is right? I assume the 2nd one, so i'm thinking the reverse would be:

78 - 4.6%

I did some more calculations for Silverback versus Spiked collar because it has been bothering me, could someone see if I made any glaring errors here?

My calculations are as follows-

The first bit is easy because SB gives 1.43 TPS per 1k health per point (10 health per 3.5 seconds*0.5 threat per point healed.)

or

0.013 threat per second per point of stamina per point.

30k pet health yields ~85 TPS and 50K yields ~144TPS. (Roughly)

*Edit* I forgot the healing modifiers, ...

So I ran a little test on how Growl works with misses and resists. Recount doesn't log successful casts of Growl, only its misses, so I just timed the length of the test.

30 minutes x 60 second/minute = 514 casts

           3.5 seconds/cast

Out of 514 casts against a 83 level dummy with no Hit talents or gear, there were 64 misses for a miss percentage of 12.45%. Its a bit high but being 4.5% off in a sample of 514 casts isn't unheard of for RNG.

With the newest patch out, pets now are getting 40% of their hunter's resilience. This is a long-awaited change, as it means we can make our pets crit-immune! ... there's just one problem: the new number for crit-immunity is 15% higher than it used to be.

So I'm putting a shout out: how much resilience does this mean a hunter needs to get his pet to be crit-immune? I can't do mathematics (like, literally; I'm clinically math-retarded), so my head for theorycrafting comes from extensive testing, ...

I have been pondering the whole crit immunity situation over the last week or so and came up with the following:

Pets do not need full crit immunity because of the healing mechanics applied to them. Even so, Turtles become effectively crit immune (and much more besides) through Spell Shield for a short period. The real thing which is a danger is the double crit scenario and is RNG on the level of Mace/TnT stuns (if not worse).

Bearing this in mind I propose we should not be aiming for ...
