So I claimed to have done ALL the bosses in heroics, but I realised today that is not quite true:

The missing one is the timed run boss in CoS, I would venture that that is the ultimate pre-3.3 pet tanking challenge!

I therefore propose a Grande Challenge!

First one to down him after MT'ing the whole instance gets a Ice-Cream sundae on the house. I'm sure Durante (being our most esteemed great leader) wouldn't mind coming up with the prize and sending it by ship .

The most difficult ...

Not sure if this is a feat, but our little group managed to do H ToC today

We were two pallies, two priests (Holy,Shadow) me and George the turtle.

The skele's you see are from trying to do the first group, our first strat was to have me tanking the rogue and mage and the the pallies take down the Shammie... This didn't work, after five minutes he was still on 50%. Next time we did it with me tanking them all and interrupting with intimidate, but the mage got loose and killed ...

So i completed my mission to do all the heroics today with OK, and we made it into an achievement run.

The first one was "Respect Your Elders" (*Edit*), this needed a bit of choreography to move him down to the next room (remember to clear) and up to the far stairs. DO NOT PULL HIM OUT OF THIS ROOM AS HE WILL ENRAGE. We found this out the hard way when we tried to have one pally kite him to the entrance. Otherwise it is fairly straightforward if you have someone who can OT the ...

Group

Hunktank

TMNT (Turtle)

Ret pally

Arcane Mage

Ele Shaman

Resto Druid

The run started out nice and smooth no issues with trash at all leading up to the first boss.

Having plenty of cc in the group we sheeped and hexed the 2 mobs on the right side of the boss room well focusing on the left side. Once those mobs were down we downed ...

I know HoS is old news, but I did my first full run of this today, definitely one of the easier instances if you have a good group.

The only thing special about this run was that we managed to do all three of the achievements first time, something helped not inconsiderably by the fact that the dps comprised 2xPally and 1xDK.

The biggest difficulty was Abuse the Ooze, but I think we ended up killing many more oozes than required to be sure, unfortunately resulting in the death of my ...

Okay, so this wasn't exactly a feat but still amusing.

So I get into a group for the daily H, but the tank keeps dc'ing, so I suggest we clear some trash while we wait. The dps shammy says: 'Go!', thinking most likely we will be kiting (and me thinking he was a healer, which he was not )...

Long story short, we end up four manning the whole instance. Towards the end one of the guys says he has a guild tank who would like the daily, so we all run out to invite him and run back up, at ...

This was tricksy, I messed up the room before the first boss (I forgot to put George on passive for the LoS pull and proceeded to pull the whole room) and we wiped twice on Dred.

Part of the problem on Dred was me using shell shield pre-emptively, saving it for the talons phase did the trick here. The Master's call/Distracting/Deterrence trick also works here ...

Our heroic group lost its paladin tank, but managed to gain a druid. ... who wanted to go Boomkin. Well, I figure why not go tanking, and see how well it goes?

It actually surprised me how well it went; the tanking for Gundrak is fairly straightforward. As always, make sure that you are the leader and that you can mark your pet's target. The groups ...

As luck would have it, my time lined up so I could do a dungeon about the same time as a group of guildies was trying to do a HVH run for the new 80s in the guild. Anyway, in my BM tank setup (30k pet, 33k hunter) I was finally able to kill Chillmaw and the adds without getting my pet killed and without having to do the fight twice. Here's how it went down.

I swear this place was made for a hunter to tank. It's absolutely fantastic for it, other than the last boss. And even that isn't as bad as it could be, except for the fact it's a case of major DPS-race. I tanked normal without a lick of trouble (except for one bit of aggro-trouble at the first boss; you'll see what I mean), and Heroic isn't different enough for me to think it would be impossible, either.

So for hunter tankers who want to make a go at it, here's how this one worked for me.

Having done this a second time for my guild, again in 10-man, I figure that I wanted to bring up here that, as long as your tanking pet has a dedicated healer for this fight, he can be used as an extremely effective offtank for the Kel'thuzad adds. These adds, for those who might not know (you never know!) have as many HP as many full bosses, and therefore aren't killed, but just offtanked while Kel is nuked. This makes a pet perfect for them since you don't need to worry about 'nuke' threat. ...

Dual specs have saved the fun. I now have a setup that I can do what I want with and still swap over to my "dps flavor of the month" setup for whatever raid I need to participate in.

I went off and tamed a Rhino. Being Ground with a rhino meat-shield, Meat seemed the appropriate name. I immediately started looking around for something fun to do with him. Children's week gave ...

I've put my theory section to the test and I've now MT:ed Spider Wing, I've also tanked Noth the Plaguebringer and Loatheb to 30% (where my pet didn't get healed when aura was down, so the warrior off tank picked him up instead). I've also tanked the military wing. Well... I've used the controller on Raz, tanked the living side on Gothil, and tanked the 2 horsemen in the back.

I will post a video and some screenshots of it all when I get a tad bit more time. And also update my Tanking Naxx ...

HOORAY! First clear of a heroic dungeon for me and Zero.

Group makeup:

Huntank - BM me

Warlock - Not sure on spec

Hunter - Survival

Death Knight - DPS spec

Druid - Heals

Wipes:

1. The miniboss (guys in ice cubes) - Huntank forgot about fear and pet went out of LOS of the healer.

2. Outside mage boss - We got adds, I didn't get agro fast enough and healer died. Cables failed too

3. Keristraza - tank died due to moving about too much.

Three is my limit, ...

Yes, yes. Not a lot in Zul'aman for the new-age of raiders, other than a few useless badges, a quest or two, an achievement, and potentially Mojo for the pet collectors (which, as a note, is why our group went here). However, the nice thing about Zul'aman, for me, is that every boss in here was affected by pet taunts (at least the ones that aren't taunt-immune to even PC taunts), making it a really solid area to practice tanking. With level 80s, the place is five-mannable, and yet still is quite ...

Tonight I tanked Anub'Rekhan, Grand Widow Faerlina, Maexxna, Heigan the Unclean, and Loatheb.

Now, a quick disclaimer, on Anub, Faerlina, and Heigan my pet died while each of these bosses were at about 10% just from little mistakes I made since tonight was the first time I've ever tried tanking any of these bosses, and we 1-shot each one so I didn't get to correct my mistakes. Hopefully next week I'll get clean kills on these and others.

I was 54/17/0 speced, and used both Bubbles ...

I know several of you have done this, and have even submitted feats, so please add any additional tips.

Here goes

The Setup

Any tenacity pet will work very well here. If you find yourself taking alot of damage from whelps, shell sheild will help with this. If you have t5 bonus, mend pet will not needed constantly (credit nordh), but even without t5, a full tanking spec will find mend pet can lapse, especially with a turtle.

Self healing trinkets, racials, or profession bonuses come ...

Why did I post here if it was a failure? Because sadly, while we were waiting for our 15 minutes to count down and make a second attempt, another group came in and finished the job for us. So we'll have to wait on a second try when next we find him up.

Who: Kurasu (80 tank-specced)

Pet: Panzer (80 turtle)

Party: Warlock + Resto Druid

Details: I happened to use my pendant to zap to BT in order to turn in a quest at Shattrath. As always, I peeked to see if Doomwalker was up, and well ...

Sapphiron in both 10 and 25 man Naxx is a great fight to flex your muscles a bit as a pet tank as there are several factors that lend very well to pet tanking.

1) Sapphiron never needs to be moved by the tank once in position.

2) Sapphiron never needs to be taunted.

3) Sapphiron has no enrage timer, so DPS can go as slowly as needed.

4) A small portion of Sapphiron's damage is frost based, which your pet will have a massive amount of resistance to with the proper gear.

5) Pets are ...

Group: 21-man raid group (including two full tanks: one warrior, one DK)

My first full heroic tanking, and as I noticed that people were looking for some ideas for general strategy, I figured that I should add my thoughts about this subject.

For the record, if you are wanting to do a Heroic tanking with your hunter, UK is going to be one of the easiest to start on. It is a very simple, straightforward tank through most of it, with the biggest problem you'll have being multiple mobs. Honestly, I'd like to consider this (for me, anyway) the 'gear check' of the ...
