Some New Designs
Hi guys its Bigfootzz aka Ed. Well, I've been working on my Huntank alot lately nothing new as of yet just gearing and reading all your posts (which I think is great!). Im sure most of you dont know but I have my own custom apparel site. PimpDuckApparel.com Ive come up with some designs I think you all may like...let me know what you think.
Re: Some New Designs
I have to saw I strongly dislike the text. We're not meat shields. A meat shield is something you sacrifice for a quick save of a healer while the real tank manages to pick up the target. And even if we were meat shields, the slogan isn't really catchy. It's too long for one. "HunTank: More than just PewPew" would have been better, even though that too doesn't quite have that special ring to it.
A slogan has to be short and witty, and it's even better if it can reach non wow players.

Re: Some New Designs
Yeah sorry the Ms word fonts, lame slogan and clip art don't really hit it with me either...

Thats understand able they are kinda rough ideas ATM. The texet is the BATMAN font I thought it looked pretty cool. I can shorten up the rest of it as well I thought it wasnt too bad but I do see your point. The images are more of placeholders Im toying with some images but wanted to see what people thought before I put too much effort into somthing that wont be used.

Re: Some New Designs
I'd rather go with ingame pet images than the stylized ones. And probably other colours than white, but I guess that's something you can change in the shop?
I'm wondering, is Huntank a good way to talk about us? Pro is that you say stuff like tankadin and healadin. Con is that it sounds a bit like Huntard. I never thought about what we should call ourselves as a collective. Personally I think it's good enough, for lack of better words.

Re: Some New Designs
I would avoid rhino, to be quite honest. As much as I love the rhino image, rhino is really no longer among the prime pets for tanking. Even back in the beginning, Rhino wasn't really apet that was made for heavy tanking; a tank flinging the enemy halfway across the world was fun, but certainly not something I'd want in an instance! But that's just my view, maybe.
That said, if you were going to base it around the 'BigRedRhino' image, by all means: make it a rhino.
Gorilla is no longer a big tanking class ,but it was *the* #1, so I would definitely count him among the stack. Of others, Warp Staklers, Turtles, Bears, and Crocolisks are the big 'main tank' tenacity pets nowadays.
And as for being called 'Huntank', while I see what you're doing there, I'm not fond of the word. I tend to just describe it as 'The Big Red Turtle'. Or more commonly, I'm 'Huntertonk'. Our name doesn't lend itself terribly well to a catchy comment, unfortunately.
Now, if I was going to have a quick, short motto, I think it would be something like:
The Thing That Should Not Be... and damned good at it.
Trading DPS for TPS. (or maybe TPS > DPS)
The Secret Hybrid Class.
Plate Is Overrated.
I Drive A Panzer (OK, maybe that one was a little more personalized)

TPS > DPS
The Secret Hybrid Class
Plate Is Overrated
These I like. Short and to the point. However, the last one with a bear image could just as well be a druid. The middle one is the best to show that we're out of the norm.
Re: Some New Designs
A motto that's too long for a 'short snappy motto', but that I was fond of, is paraphrased from a comic I used to read:
"Some people just weren't made for tanking.
Poor Bastards."

Re: Some New Designs
I agree with all the other replies.
I'll add that while I love the hunter pet-tank exercise, I probably will not buy clothing about it. Even my wife would mock me. ;-)

Re: Some New Designs
Hmmm, Huntank was what I used in my earliest post (I'm doubt I was the first) and was a reference to the fact that I had been often viewed as a "huntard" until folks saw what I could do. I don't think it's the right term because of the negative connotations.
I liked the caption on Nordh's screenshot "Tenacity above all".
However, I'd modify it to "Tenacity after all" or "Tenacity over all".

Not 'Tenacity after all', IMO. The use of the English language in that sentence is really horribly awkward, and could mean 'Everything should come before Tenacity' as well. Tenacity Above All and Tenacity Over All are both good, though; it makes it much more clear that it's... well... Tenacity over all.
As for wearing a t-shirt, I'm proud of my escapades. I'd do it in a heartbeat. I'll be honest: nothing thrills me as much as when someone /w me with 'WTF? Hunter stacking stamina?'. If they want to call me a Huntard, they can, and I'll happily laugh at them. Because they're short-minded, thinking that I don't know what I'm doing just because I'm not following the arrows painted by everyone else in the world.
At least that's how I look at it. YMMV.

But how do we distinguish from druids then?

Re: Some New Designs
As I said in an earlier reply, not wearing plate is known for druid tanks, so it's not a good motto.
I have to agree with Kheldul though, only reason I would ever buy a shirt with a WoW-theme would be if I go to a guild meeting, which I never have done so far. Even though my wife wouldn't mock me, I'm sure my colleagues would And to top it all off, they wouldn't even understand the shirt in the first place =P

Re: Some New Designs
"Plate is overrated"
is catchy and probably the best choice despite its confustion with druids. As long as you didnt use a bear you would be fine, or a noticeably-ingame-not-a-druid-bear.
I just hope you are putting up too much money for the shirts, there aren't that many people using their pets as tanks, who would buy a shirt, who would find your site, and who would like the shirt, and have money to buy it.
Not trying to stop you from making them, just concerned about how much money you would make.

Re: Some New Designs
I understand what your saying and I appareciate your in put. What I do is put the design up on the site and make shirts per order so theres no outta pocket expense for that. Im also just trying to find creative ways to get people to my website so they can see some of the other designs I have up as well. I do alot of custom work so Im not limited to just whats on the site.

Re: Some New Designs
OK. Now *that*, I like. I'll take two!
.... well, maybe not. I need money first.
My only complaint is a Grammarnazi one: 'Overrated' is one word.
