Tank Teams?

Tank Teams?
Here is something to consider:
Pets requiring additonal focus to reach their full potential:
-Bear, because swipe has a focus cost.
-Turtle, because you might want to use the focus dump to help generate threat.
Pets that require additional survivability:
-Stalker, can get an extra point in Spiked collar but doesn't have the mitigation of the turtle.
-Croc, great AoE but not so great mitigation.
This suggests to me that that one can use pet teams for different builds:
High Mitigation
S(tam)B(uild)-Turtle
TB-Turtle
SB-Stalker
TB-Stalker
SB-Bear
SB-Croc
TB-Bear
T(hreat)B(uild)-Croc
High Threat
Obviously this is a simplification, but it might be worthwhile to run Turtle/Bear with a threat build or Stalker/Croc with a stam build.

Re: Tank Teams?
Actually, my stable at the moment consists of three tenacity pets, mostly specced so:
Turtle: high survivability for melee
Stalker: High survivability for spell
Croc: High threat
I say 'mostly' because depending on what's needed, I can easily 'spec dance' with the pet out, then respec them in a snap. The turtle got that treatment with Malygos testing, and his present 'two points spiked collar' build is the result of a Nexus run where I realized without a single point of it, he wasn't holding threat no way no how. Amazing how much difference even just two points in that make, for the record!

Re: Tank Teams?
This kinda makes me wonder if it is possible to make Stamina build for the Stalker with 1/2 Wild Hunt and 3/3 Spiked collar?
This would probably affect scaling adversely so it might not work.

spiked what?
I'm a bit confused about why this conversation is around "Spiked Collar". I see that you're talking about threat, but I don't know why... Doesn't Growl + Misdirection + Thunderstomp make enough threat for your pets?
What pet talent build are you looking at?
With my warp-stalker, I'm planning on this stamina-heavy build: http://www.wowhead.com/?petcalc#cV0u0bGzbkoR

Re: Tank Teams?
Pet threat is fair on single targets, but since TS's damage was nerfed when all tenacity pets got it the AoE threat is not that great. In fact at the moment I would say that threat is the number problem for pet tanking.
I have established in another thread that going for a full Stamina build and taking 2/2 SB is better for AoE threat than 2/3 Spiked collar, but further testing for scaling (especially with Careful Aim builds) would be appreciated.
