Alert addon?

After searching for a bit over at curse for an addon that could play a noticeable sound when your pet gets crit, I turned up nothing.

Does anyone know of an addon that will allow us to do this? or perhaps someone is really savvy with the config files so this could just be changed?

Obviously its the kind of thing we would only want on during tanking, so it would make sense to be able to switch it on and off.

Anyone know of something like this?

If you can find an addon that does it for crits against you, as a player, I'm sure I could go through the LUA to change it to the pet.

Critical Alert is an AddOn that I use. It shows both crits that you do and crits against you. It also shows other people's crits nearby against enemies. Due to this, I would think that it could be tweaked and/or configured to show crits against your pet (or crits by your pet) in some fashion.

In addition, it plays a sound alert when your FD is resisted, *and* a sound alert when your pet is at low health. Extremely helpful for pet tanking, that second one, I would like to add!

I say 'in some fashion' because darned if I would have any idea exactly *how*. Dammit, Jim, I'm a tank! Not a hacker!

I've never touched LUA, but I'm a code adept by nature. I understand code just by looking at it. So I'll give it a crack when I have a spare minute or two.

Thread Necromancy! RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE!

Our guild has an AddOn-maker who can probably fix up a little something. I'm planning to set him to the task of getting an AddOn together that will work like RatingsBuster but for pet stats. I.E. it will give a peek at how much such-and-such piece of equipment will add to your pet's stats. I could *very* easily get an AddOn together that would report crits to the pet, as well, or possibly just get him to tell me what line needs to be added to CritAlert.

Anyone else think of anything that would be good for a pet-tanking AddOn?

Now, he does this on his own spare time, so I won't promise that these AddOns (or this AddOn, depending) will see the light of day any time soon. If at all. But I'm giving him sad-eyes about it.

It would be really awesome to have an addon made purely for pet tanking.

Things I would like to see:

Crits towards the pet.
Pet low HP alert.
Cooldowns for tanking abilities (Everything from Last stand to Bestial Wrath to Shell Shield).
Mend Pet alerter.

I know some of these can be done through various addons, but I'd like to see them all in one place.

aye, with extra slots to expand pet moves, and built in functions to quickly set focus or target for macros behind the pet moves.

Also, an expandable threat window thats basically omen for your pet.

I had toyed with writing such an addon myself. I've never written one before so I'm not sure how well that would go over.

Omen already shows your pet. So "basically omen for your pet" doesn't make sense =P

I agree that expanded pet bar would be awesome.

And another idea, an autocast alerter if it's possible. "If cower.autocast= true"-something.

I am envisioning a threat windo that shows each target attacking your pet (or perhaps mobs that are aggroed would be better) with a bar that displays the next up on threat for each one so that you can easily see if you are losing threat on any of your targets.

It would also allow you to click on any of the 'mobs' in the list as a pet attack, or maybe just to select the mob, not sure.

Im fairly certain that omen does not have any such functionality at the moment.

The auto cast alert is a great idea.

This tool would be amazing for pet tanking. I may take another crack at it when i get some time.

I know Omen as an "AoE" mode, not sure how it works, haven't used it or checked it out since MH.

Things I'd be most interested in for a pet addon.

1. Threat meter that shows threat for each ability, similar to a Recap for threat. Would show total threat for each ability, the percentage of total threat that ability caused, and average and maximum threat caused by each ability. All those things would be a great bonus, but I could live with an addon that just compiles basically a combat log but for threat instead of damage.

2. A crit alert would be great, especially with the ability to toggle it to announce in raid/party when the pet is crit.

3. A addon that would say in raid/party when your pet autocasts certain abilities and also announces when they go down. In particular I'm thinking for leaving Shell Shield on autocast, then when your pet uses it you'd say "Shell Shield used, 50% incoming damage for 12 seconds" After the 12 seconds was up it'd say "Shell Shield down, damage doubled for X seconds!" Its either auto detect points in Longevity, or there would be a toggle box that'd let the addon calculate the cooldown. Alternatively the addon would just let the user chose what it'd say.
