Re: 3.2 PTR Patch Notes and Tenacity Pets
Okay I tested it now and it looks like they used the expected coding:
A buff appears on the target which makes them crit immune (presumably since the mobs I was testing with weren't going to crit). The pet doesn't get a buff and a flat damage as a percentage of damage received seems to be transferred to the pet itself. So no crit immunity for the pet in that way .
The pet also cannot target itself, as before.
[Aside] The new Tauren Bear models look, how shall I put this? Slightly effeminate?

I started the character copy process about 2pm Tuesday before the PTR was even up and its still pending. Don't they know I have testing to do?

Patience friend, patience.
They were taking their sweet time getting accounts up, but all my characters have come through and are sort of working (talent point glitch is back). Yours should be up by now I would have thought.

Glad we got that sorted out.
Now... resillience and crit for pets, go go test!

I must say that this Kill Command is spectacular for sustaining threat
But I am experiencing a bug with Thunderstomp not firing from time to time, can someone verify that this is happening to them too, it still works manually and when you re-enter combat it seems. I have reported it anyhow.

Re: 3.2 PTR Patch Notes and Tenacity Pets
I've done a little preliminary testing with pet crit reduction, and it looks like pets are getting some sort of flat crit reduction not based on resil, as well as possibly resil scaling.
A level 80 mob attacking a level 80 character should have a baseline 5% crit chance.
Here's an 80 mob attacking me with 0 resil or any sort of crit suppression.
http://wowwebstats.com/j3mphxkkoodji?a=xf5300075d002f5f9
Same level 80 mob attacking my pet with 0 resil and 1 point in Grace of the Mantis (2% crit reduction).
http://wowwebstats.com/qt3yw3w36cui5?a=xf5300075d003035f
Same level 80 mob attacking my pet with ~825 player resil (~10% crit chance reduction, meaning 4% to pet) and 1 point in GotM.
http://wowwebstats.com/veibontfrtd1i?a=xf5300075d003045c
These are some fairly small sample sizes at around 200 hits each, but the results are definitely interesting. The mob crit me 5% of attack as expected, but never crit my pet instead of the 3% you'd expect. The last test was with a total of 6% crit chance reduction, which should be more than enough to make pets PvE crit immune and that also resulted in no crits.
Update: Looks like I might have been hasty. I'm now testing without any points in GotM and no resil, and I'm seeing some crits. I'm not sure yet if this is just a case of RNG, or if pet resil doesn't update very well, similar to how Wild Hunt doesn't always work correctly.

Re: 3.2 PTR Patch Notes and Tenacity Pets
Major disappointment with an undocumented change. Pets talents trees now get saved with your dual spec, so no more switching specs to reset their talents.
Hypothetically, if you were to make both of your dual specs tanking specs, then you'd probably be able to get two pet specs per pet, but other than that we're stuck at 1 per.

Re: 3.2 PTR Patch Notes and Tenacity Pets
Doing a round of more thorough tests.
No Resil, No GotM
http://wowwebstats.com/da14ne6uilakk?a=xf5300075d0044722
1275 swings, 65 crits (5.098%)
420 Resil (5.12% player, 2.05% pet), No GotM
http://wowwebstats.com/nteeftczqh3d3?a=xf5300075d008c4a1
1181 swings, 52 crits (4.403%)
420 Resil (5.12% player, 2.05% pet), 2% GotM
http://wowwebstats.com/4aj1rf3v1tm11?a=xf5300075d009c8ae
1159 swings, 14 crits (1.208%)
Note I'm guilty of alt-tabbing out during this test and pulled healing aggro when I wasn't watching, so to get the correct totals I subtracted out the attacks on me.
217 Resil (2.65% player, 1.06% pet), 4% GotM
http://wowwebstats.com/6djqozeug3m3e?a=xf1300075d000f552
1231 swings, 0 crits (0%)
As it should be, with 5% crit chance reduction my pet has achieved crit immunity against a same level mob.

Re: 3.2 PTR Patch Notes and Tenacity Pets
I got that talent point thing too, but I think it was related to the old glitch we used to have.
However, once I fixed my secondary spec it seemed to go back to working as normal, either that or they hotfixed it in the interim.
On a related note, how does one change pet specs if you don't have a BM spec handy?

Re: 3.2 PTR Patch Notes and Tenacity Pets
Durante, in other words, pets get crit reduction from mobs at the moment, and not only players. Question is, have the resi change been implemented on PTR yet or not? And how much resi would be needed to get immunity to a Boss level mob?
Re: 3.2 PTR Patch Notes and Tenacity Pets
I figure that it should be like this:
1% Resilience reduces chance to crit by 1% and we need an additional 1.5% crit reduction for PvE, therefore we need 1.5% resilience.
82 resilience rating = 1% resilience @ lvl 80 and pets get 40% of our resilience meaning that 82 resilience rating = 0.4% resilience (and therefore crit reduction) on our pets. This means that they would need 1.5/0.4x82 = 307.5 resilience to be immune in PvE.
Otherwise expressed: 82 resilience grants 0.4% crit reduction. Therefore each point of reduction costs 2.5 times what it would cost a player, therefore each point of crit reduction costs 205 resilience rating and in order to achieve 1.5% reduction the pet would need 307.5 rating on the player.
Please check my math, it's not my strong suite (to put it mildly ).

Re: 3.2 PTR Patch Notes and Tenacity Pets
You're math is almost right, except uncrittable would be 1.6%, not 1.5%. That makes the resilience cap against a raid boss 328 resil with 2 points in GotM.
I've made charts by mob level in the Theorycraft section.

I suspected as much. Thanks for that.
328 it is then.

Re: 3.2 PTR Patch Notes and Tenacity Pets
This is good news. 328 isnt too much resilience, and im sure one could figure out the best mix of pvp gear and pve for the most impact. The cool thing is that up to the crit cap, pvp gear's itemization is good, since all stats will be useful for pet tanking.
We should look into the damage reduction portion of resilience for our pets as well.
