I've put my theory section to the test and I've now MT:ed Spider Wing, I've also tanked Noth the Plaguebringer and Loatheb to 30% (where my pet didn't get healed when aura was down, so the warrior off tank picked him up instead). I've also tanked the military wing. Well... I've used the controller on Raz, tanked the living side on Gothil, and tanked the 2 horsemen in the back.

I will post a video and some screenshots of it all when I get a tad bit more time. And also update my Tanking Naxx pages, and add my new experiences.

This is just a quick post to remind me to write down a better summary later on. =)

Before I start, let me just tell you how hard it is to tank trash. The Thunderstomp aggro nerf meant that the off tank pretty much tanked everything, often including the main target that my pet was hitting. That felt a bit bad.

Where: Naxxramas (10) Spider Wing - Anub'Rekhan
Who: Nordhbane of The Maelstrom (EU) (80)
Pet: Gannjala (80 Turtle)
Healers: Paladin (Holy), Druid (Resto)

Tactics:
We discussed the tactics a few minutes before the boss and instead of using the tactics I posted in my Tanking Naxx featurette, I went with what Kurasu posted here on the forum. Namely kept my pet in the same place the whole time. At the pull I ran in, then to put the pet in the correct spot I moved to the doorway and used /petfollow until the boss was tanked properly in the corner.

The dps could go almost all out, except for a main retradin. It was the only main the raid. Having a druid using HoTs during the swarm was really helpful as the ticks would quickly heal the pet up from the DoT.

Malibu, the warrior off tank picked up the add and dragged it into the raid and killed it there.

Where: Naxxramas (10) Spider Wing - Grand Widow Faerlina
Who: Nordhbane of The Maelstrom (EU) (80)
Pet: Gannjala (80 Turtle)
Healers: Paladin (Holy), Druid (Resto)

Tactics:
I based my tactics on my Tanking Naxx featurette. What we did at the pull was for the off tank to run in and aggro everything, and then I peeled Faerlina off of him. He tanked them a tad bit too close to Faerlina though so the DK and Pala AoE killed 2 of them way too early. But it wasn't really a problem.

A few seconds before Faerlina enraged, I popped the shell shield and told the off tank to take down an add. And the same thing when she enraged the second time. It was a perfect execution and my pet was never in any harm during the enrages.

Where: Naxxramas (10) Spider Wing - Maexxna
Who: Nordhbane of The Maelstrom (EU) (80)
Pet: Gannjala (80 Turtle)
Healers: Paladin (Holy), Druid (Resto)

Tactics:
I based my tactics on my Tanking Naxx featurette, but as Ihlos pointed out in the comments "why use eotb?". I decided to go with what he said and told people not to start dpsing until Maexxna was firmly in place. That didn't stop people from starting to auto swing it just as I had predicted they would (stupid dpsers), but luckily they didn't overaggro.

I popped the Shell Shield at first and second web spray and let the cooldown go back up for the third. At this point Maexxna was at 37% so we simply nuked him and when the final webspray came I used the Shell Shield again to prevent it from dying to an enraged boss. The execution was flawless apart from the main retradin that overaggroed in the end "because he couldn't see the pet on the threatmeter".

Hey Nordh,

Can you give us a run down of the turtle's raid buffed stats for the encounter?

Thanks,
J

Well, what do you want to know except for what's shown on the screenshots? (yes yes, I know I'm missing food buff, etc)

If you want to know the exact amount of armor, etc, I'm sorry, but I never checked actually. I did check the AP somewhere in the beginning, and it was around 3K if I remember correctly. But not sure what buffs were on it then.

Awesome work. Looked as smooth as butter to me. Very Happy Did your group have to hold back on the aggro much? Or could they pretty much open up at will? It can be hard to tell that from a video. I saw a few red flashes on your side, which I'm assuming were aggro/threat warnings from Omen.

Flashes can mean a number of things, but if it's threat it's because I personally is at around 80% of the tank, so no worries. But it can also mean I "need" to switch to Aspect of the Viper / Dragonhawk depending on my mana and which one I have already.

Blue flashes symbolize some important boss event. Can't name one for Naxx out of the top of my head, but for example Ignis in Ulduar and his Flame Jets flashes blue when he's starting to cast them. It's a feature in Big Wigs.

But to answer your question, only the retradin had to hold back as far as I know. He's a main though with very good gear.

Here's the link to WCM, feel free to comment and rate. Good comments means a lot for the tanking community.

Adding this here cause I can't find the original comment about tanking the back two (Zeliek and Blaumeux). Someone mentioned using a hunter to tank both of these (swapping the pet back and forth).

Anyway, I tried it with Zero (my turtle) and it worked splendidly with a druid healing.

Key takeaways:

- My heal was always sufficient for Zero, even when he was standing in the black circle pits "Blammo" summons.
- I was running 39k HP on me, 35k on Zero
- The swap was no problem since I never worried about Zero's buff count, just mine.
- The tactic was awesome for 10-man, we were able to just mow down the bosses since there was one more person on Thane.

Why were you wearing T7? Those were T7 shoulders, right? Did you want to get rid of a healer too? Smile

Kheldul, T5 you mean? I always use two parts when tanking to soften out the damage.

Ground,
The original post about 2H is on the blog.
